We are always on the lookout for great piano players. The gig we are booking is with the ship’s main theatre orchestra. To be successful on the gig you’ll need a wide range of skills and experience. A good technique and strong sight-reading skills are obviously needed, but you’ll also need experience of a wide range of musical situations. Jazz, pop, Motown, soul and Broadway are all styles you’ll encounter every week.
As well as being able to read notated music well, you’ll also need to be able to comp effectively in a range of styles from leads sheets with just chords. Experience of working with singers is also required and good colla voce skills are also needed.
